Commonly Asked Questions When Building a Home

Building a house is exciting, tiring, and rewarding all in one. It requires a whole lot of patience and trusting the process. Most people truly love the experience of designing and building their forever home, but it doesn't come without questions! If you've considered building a custom home, here are a few of the many questions we get asked by new homeowners.

How long will the building process take?

You've chosen your lot, you've chosen the floor plan for you new home, you make your design selections, and the excitement sets in. Now what? The building process begins. The expected time frame for the completion of your semi-custom home is 9-12 months. But let's be real: there will delays in the building process. Weather, product shipment delays, and COVID are just a few. Just remember, your beautiful home is on the other side of your patience!

How much can I customize my home?

Who doesn't love the ability to customize their home? Most homeowners come in with a vision of what they desire for their home, and that's great! It makes the building process easier. After lot selection is complete, it's time for plan sign-off. Though we don't accept plans from homeowners, we have an array of our own plans to choose from that can be modified. The next step is making design selections for your home. This includes choosing brick color, flooring, cabinet colors, lighting fixtures, etc. Don't forget, upgrades can be made when it comes to making the selections for each space in your home, but there will be added cost.

Who are your product suppliers?

We are so fortunate to partner with some amazing businesses across North Alabama that supply products for the homebuilding process.

When it comes time to making selections for the lighting fixtures in your home, Inline Lighting supplies an array of beautiful fixtures to choose from. We also give homeowners a generous lighting allowance. Visiting their showroom may be a little overwhelming at first, but we are sure you'll find those perfect fixtures for your home!

Design selections made for your kitchen, laundry room, bathrooms, etc. are made here in our Design Center. We offer products from Robert F. Henry Tile for kitchen backsplashes, laundry room floors, bathroom floors, and showers. Plumbing fixture selections also take place in our Design Center and the products are supplied from Park Supply Co.

Building your home is nothing short of a learning experience, but we are here every step through the process to design and build your home that suits you and your family for years to come.
